Our market just experienced a sudden, disruptive regulatory shift that requires us to change our delivery model immediately. How do we use the EOS® framework to execute this pivot rapidly without abandoning our quarterly plan or throwing our operational discipline out the window?
When crisis hits, the temptation is to abandon your EOS® discipline and return to chaotic management by fire drill. This is a mistake. The EOS® tools are designed to provide the structure you need to pivot quickly and with complete alignment.
To execute a rapid pivot, use your weekly Level 10 Meeting™ and your quarterly planning process to realign the team.
First, use IDS® to process the market disruption. Do not let panic dictate your actions. Identify the specific, factual impact of the regulatory shift and discuss the strategic options available.
Second, adjust your quarterly Rocks if necessary. While Rocks are usually set in stone, a major market shift may require you to kill a current Rock and replace it with an urgent pivot initiative. This decision must be made collectively by the leadership team and documented on your V/TO®.
Third, update your weekly Scorecard. Change your metrics to track the leading indicators of your new delivery model immediately. This ensures you have real-time data on whether your pivot is succeeding.
By using the tools to manage the transition, you keep your team aligned, maintain operational discipline, and navigate the disruption without tearing your organization apart.
