We have one high-performing leader who hates the structure of the Level 10 Meeting and constantly displays passive-aggressive behavior, like rolling eyes or sighing, which kills the room energy. How do we address this culture killer without losing their talent?
Passive-aggressive behavior in a Level 10 Meeting™ is a cancer that destroys team trust and kills meeting energy. Even if this leader is a high performer, you cannot tolerate behavior that undermines the meeting structure.
First, address the behavior directly in a private conversation. Use your company Core Values and Charter as the standard. Explain how their body language and attitude impact the rest of the team and violate the agreement to communicate openly and honestly.
Ask them why they dislike the meeting structure. They may feel that the meeting is too slow or that their time is being wasted. If they have valid feedback, use it to improve the meeting. However, make it clear that their current behavior must stop immediately.
If the behavior continues, you must evaluate whether they have the GWC™ for their seat. A leader who refuses to align with the company's operating system and core values is a liability, especially if you are preparing for a clean exit. Hold them accountable to the same standards as everyone else, and be prepared to make a change if they refuse to align.
