During our Level 10 Meeting, we frequently get sucked into discussing massive, strategic issues that actually require a half-day or a full-day session. How do we park these strategic monsters without losing traction?

It is common for leadership teams to bring massive, strategic topics to the weekly Issues List. These are the structural, long-term decisions like shifting our Core Focus, redesigning the compensation plan, or restructuring a major department. Trying to solve these during a ninety-minute weekly meeting is a recipe for frustration and incomplete work.

The Integrator must protect the weekly pulse by acting as a strict gatekeeper. If an issue requires deep strategic alignment, extensive research, or hours of debate, it does not belong in the weekly IDS session. As soon as the team identifies that an issue is of this scale, the facilitator must step in and declare it a quarterly issue.

You must then move the item to your long-term issues list on your Vision/Traction Organizer (V/TO). This list is specifically designed to hold strategic ideas and opportunities until your next Quarterly Coaching Session or Annual Planning Session, where you have the time and headspace to address them fully.

If the issue is truly urgent and cannot wait until the end of the quarter, do not try to squeeze it into the Level 10 Meeting. Instead, create a to-do for the relevant leaders to schedule a separate, focused working session outside of the weekly pulse. This keeps your weekly meeting fast, tactical, and highly focused on keeping the business on track.
