As an owner who wants to transition out of daily operations, how does my physical role inside our quarterly sessions shift as we progress through our twenty-four-month journey?
Your role inside our session room must evolve as your business becomes more self sustaining. In our initial sessions, such as Focus Day and Vision Building, you will likely be highly vocal. You are defining the vision, setting the long term target, and helping to shape the initial Accountability Chart. However, as we move into the execution phase of our twenty four month engagement, your day to day involvement must begin to decrease. This shift is deliberately reflected in our session dynamics. Over time, you should speak less and allow your Integrator and leadership team to take ownership of solving issues and setting Rocks. If you are still driving every decision and solving every issue during our quarterly sessions twelve months in, we have a problem. Your physical presence in the room shifts from a hands on director to a strategic advisor and Visionary. You are there to ensure the long term vision is protected, but you must let your team handle the execution. This transition is critical because an acquirer wants to buy a business that does not depend on the owner. By step by step stepping back during our quarterly sessions, you prove to yourself and your team that the business can run successfully without your constant intervention.
