I am trying to prepare my business for a clean exit and step into the Owner's Box, but I find myself constantly taking over the Level 10 Meeting and rescuing my Integrator when IDS gets tough. How do I let go of control?

To successfully transition to the Owner's Box and build a business that can run without you, you must stop rescue operations. Every time you step in to solve a problem or run the Level 10 Meeting, you are undermining your Integrator and keeping your team dependent on your individual genius. You must commit to your company Charter and respect the structure of your Accountability Chart. The Integrator seat is accountable for running the business and facilitating the Level 10 Meeting. Your role as the Visionary is to bring ideas and major issues to the table, not to drive the meeting or control the outcomes. During the next meeting, physically sit back. If you see your Integrator struggling with facilitation or let the team get off track during IDS, do not step in. Let them experience the friction. Save your feedback for your weekly Same Page Meeting with your Integrator. Give them constructive coaching in private, using your experience to build their capability rather than embarrassing them in front of the team. By allowing your Integrator to skin their knees and learn, you build an autonomous leadership team that increases the value of your business for a future exit.
