What happens during the Accountability Chart exercise if we discover the owner is sitting in too many operational seats and blocking company growth?
We address the bottleneck directly during our foundational sessions. This discovery is normal for growing businesses, but ignoring it caps company value. During the Accountability Chart exercise, we design the structure required to run the company over the next six to twelve months, completely independent of existing personalities or titles.
Once the structure and major accountabilities are defined, we place names into seats based on GWC™: whether each individual Gets it, Wants it, and has the Capacity to do it. When an owner occupies Visionary, Integrator, Sales, and Operations simultaneously, they are not protecting the enterprise; they are creating a single point of failure.
We confront this reality without sentimentality. We identify which seats the owner must delegate immediately to unlock capacity and protect operational continuity. If there is no internal leader ready to step in, hiring or developing that talent becomes a critical company Rock. The owner must commit to vacating operational seats systematically, transferring tribal knowledge, and allowing department leaders to lead. Until the owner steps out of functional execution, the business cannot scale and will remain unready for an exit.
