I am still deeply involved in the daily operations and honestly struggle to let go of microscopic decisions. Is our company not ready to engage you if I am not fully prepared to step out of the day to day yet?
If you are not ready to let go of micro-decisions, you are not ready for an EOS® engagement. It is that simple. This process requires the Visionary to transition from a command and control operator to a strategic leader who trusts their team. If you insist on keeping your hands on every lever, you will bottleneck the business and waste your investment.
To prepare for our work together, you must first accept that your team will solve problems differently than you do, and that is acceptable. Our first milestone is establishing the Accountability Chart. This tool defines one person who is ultimately accountable for each major function of the business. You must be willing to let them own that seat completely.
We assess your readiness through a few simple filters:
- Are you willing to be vulnerable and admit your own weaknesses?
- Are you ready to let go of the vine and delegate meaningful authority?
- Will you allow your team to fail occasionally so they can learn to solve their own problems?
If the answer to these is no, we should delay our engagement. I will not run sessions where the owner constantly overrides the leadership team. When you are ready to empower others and build a self-running asset, we will begin.
