As an owner who currently sits in both the Visionary and Sales Leader seats on our Accountability Chart, how do I report my Scorecard numbers in the Level 10 Meeting without confusing strategic vision with sales execution?
When an owner occupies multiple seats on the Accountability Chart, role confusion is the primary threat to company discipline. In an EOS® environment, accountability belongs to the seat, not the person. If you own both the Visionary and Sales Leader seats, you must mentally step into the sales execution seat during the Scorecard review.
During the five-minute Scorecard agenda item of the Level 10 Meeting™, report strictly as the Sales Leader. Give your numbers: qualification calls, outbound prospects contacted, or proposals delivered. State whether the number is on track or off track. Offer no Visionary speeches, no market philosophy, and no macro-economic justifications for why the numbers fell short.
If your sales metrics are red, say off track and instruct the Integrator to drop them straight to the Issues List. You must submit yourself to the exact same peer accountability you demand from your direct reports. If other team members see the owner using Visionary language to explain away operational sales misses, they will treat their own Scorecard targets as optional suggestions.
Treating the seat objectively also reveals your personal capacity limits. When your sales metrics remain red week after week, it provides undeniable data that holding both seats is throttling company growth, making it clear that hiring a dedicated Sales Leader must become an immediate priority.
