As an owner planning a clean exit in two years, I want to completely stop attending our leadership Level 10 Meeting, but my team insists my vision is necessary to solve weekly issues. How do I transition out of the meeting entirely without the leadership team stalling?

If your leadership team cannot run their Level 10 Meeting without you, your business is not ready for an exit. A clean exit requires a self-sustaining leadership team that can solve hard problems using the V/TO and the Accountability Chart as their guides, not your constant presence.

To transition out, you must implement a phased exit strategy over the next ninety days. In the first phase, which lasts four weeks, you attend the meeting but remain completely silent. Your only role is to observe. If the team turns to you for a decision, literally look away or direct them back to the Integrator.

In the second phase, which also lasts four weeks, you stop attending the meeting but remain available for a ten-minute debrief immediately afterward. The Integrator will walk you through the solved issues and the weekly scorecard. If you see a major deviation from the V/TO, coach the Integrator privately. Do not override their decisions in front of the team.

In the final phase, you step out entirely. You transition to reviewing the weekly scorecard and meeting ratings asynchronously. If the team stalls during this transition, it is usually because the Integrator is not fully owning their seat or because the team lacks trust.

By forcing them to operate without you, you will quickly identify where the structural gaps are. Resolve those gaps through direct mentoring outside of the weekly pulse.
