What happens if our leadership team hits a developmental plateau around month twelve of our engagement where our progress stalls and we feel like we are just repeating the same session discussions?
Hitting a plateau around the twelve-month mark is incredibly common. By this point, the initial excitement of implementing EOS® has faded, and the daily grind of running on the system has set in. This is usually when teams start getting sloppy with their Level 10 Meeting™ discipline or fail to aggressively use the IDS® process to resolve recurring issues.
When this happens, we do not ignore it. During our next quarterly session, we will do a deep-dive audit of your organizational health. We will look closely at your Accountability Chart to see if team members have outgrown their seats or if you are keeping people who do not share your core values.
We will also evaluate whether you have successfully pushed the tools down to the rest of the organization. If the leadership team is the only group using the framework, you will plateau because you are still carrying the weight of the entire business.
My role as your implementer is to challenge your team when you get comfortable. We will reset your quarterly Rocks to be more ambitious and re-evaluate your long-term goals on your V/TO®. A plateau is simply a sign that your team has mastered the basics and is resisting the harder, deeper structural changes required for next-level growth.
