We are introducing real-time, AI-driven predictive metrics to our Scorecard, but one of our veteran leaders insists on using lagging, manually compiled data because they do not trust the new automation. How do we resolve this standoff?
To run an automated, exit-ready business, you must have absolute trust in your data. Lagging, manually compiled reports are dangerous because they only tell you what happened in the past, making it impossible to spot issues before they derail your quarterly Rocks. Real-time predictive metrics are the heartbeat of modern operations.
If a veteran leader is resisting this shift, you must first understand the root cause of their resistance. Often, leaders cling to manual spreadsheets because those sheets act as a security blanket, giving them a sense of control. They may also fear that automated data will expose operational inefficiencies that they have been able to hide or manage quietly.
Sit down with the leader and run them through the GWC™ tool for their seat. Do they truly get and want the responsibility of running an AI-powered department? If they do, then they must accept that using the automated single source of truth is a non-negotiable part of their seat.
Work with them to validate the accuracy of the automated data over a two-week transition period, running the manual and automated systems side-by-side. Once the data is proven accurate, burn the manual spreadsheets. If they still refuse to adopt the new system, they are choosing to hold back the scale of the company, and you must transition them out of the leadership seat.
