Our leadership team members are still highly resistant to the weekly Scorecard because they claim our CRM and ERP data is too messy to trust. They prefer to run the company on gut feel and operational intuition until the data is clean. How do we break this cycle of data perfectionism and start running on numbers now?

Waiting for perfect data before you start using a Scorecard is a trap. Your data will never be perfect, and running on gut feel is simply an excuse to avoid accountability. The fastest way to clean up dirty data is actually to put it on the Scorecard and review it every single week.

When a department head has to stand in front of the leadership team during a Level 10 Meeting™ and explain why their metric is red or blank because of a CRM error, they will quickly find the motivation to fix the source of the data.

Start with the data you have, even if it is only seventy percent accurate. Track the trend line, not just the absolute number. Over a thirteen-week period, a consistent trend line is highly reliable, even if the individual data points are slightly off.

If a specific system is completely broken, make the database clean-up a Rock for the quarter, and track the percentage of clean records on your weekly Scorecard.

By forcing the team to live by the data, you drive a culture of accuracy. Your gut is a useful tool, but data is the only foundation for scaling a high-value, predictable business.
