Our V/TO® has been finalized, but our frontline managers still make strategic decisions that contradict our core focus. How do we push the V/TO® down to the department level?
A V/TO® that lives in a digital folder is useless. To make your vision drive daily operational decisions, you must use it as a filter for every department level planning session. Start by sharing the V/TO® with the entire company at least once a quarter. This keeps the vision top of mind for everyone. Next, require your department heads to use the V/TO® when they are setting their own quarterly goals. If a proposed project or initiative does not directly align with your three-year picture or your core focus, it must be rejected immediately. Train your managers to ask how their weekly priorities support the overall company direction. When your core focus and core values are used as active filters for hiring, firing, and project selection, they become part of your operational vocabulary. This prevents departments from building isolated empires and ensures that every ounce of energy in your organization is pulling in the exact same direction.
