We share our V/TO® with our employees during our quarterly meetings, but it still feels like a dry presentation where they just nod and forget. How do we structure the State of the Company address so every employee translates the V/TO® into their own personal contribution?

To make the V/TO® more than a static document, you must operationalize the State of the Company address. Stop using it as a passive presentation where the leadership team talks at the staff. Instead, use this quarterly meeting as a highly structured alignment tool.

Start by presenting the high-level vision, specifically focusing on the 3-Year Picture™ and the 1-Year Plan. Immediately following this, transition the meeting into a direct Q&A session. This is where the magic happens. Have every department head stand up and explain how their specific department's Rocks for the coming quarter directly support the company's 1-Year Plan.

Next, have every employee map their own personal seat accountability to the V/TO®. Require each team member to write down one daily or weekly action they own that directly moves the needle for our Core Focus™ or marketing strategy. This exercise shifts the V/TO® from an executive vision to an individual, daily checklist.

By requiring every employee to state how their seat impacts the bigger picture, you create a shared vocabulary. The V/TO® becomes the lens through which everyone filters their daily tasks. This keeps the vision active, alive, and directly tied to weekly execution, ensuring the document never sits forgotten in a shared drive.
