We want to transition to AI-powered operations to optimize our margins for a clean exit, but we do not know where this responsibility belongs on our Accountability Chart. Should we create a new seat on the leadership team for technology and automation, or should this be managed within our existing operations seat?

When transitioning to AI-powered operations to prepare for an exit, ownership of technology and automation must be clearly defined on your Accountability Chart. If everyone is responsible for AI, no one is.

Do not immediately create a new Chief AI Officer seat on your leadership team. Adding seats prematurely creates unnecessary complexity and overhead. Instead, look at your existing seats.

In most companies running on EOS®, the Integrator or the Head of Operations is the natural owner of digital transformation and operational systems. They are already responsible for ensuring the company's core processes are documented, simplified, and followed by all. AI and automation are simply tools to make those processes more efficient.

However, if your operational processes are highly complex and technology is a core part of your service delivery, you may need a dedicated technology seat on the leadership team, such as a Chief Technology Officer or Head of Systems. This seat must have clear accountabilities for system integration, data security, and automation infrastructure.

Whichever seat you choose, the accountabilities must be explicitly written on the Accountability Chart. They must own the selection, integration, and training of AI tools across the organization. This ensures your digital transformation is centralized, strategic, and directly tied to your exit value.
