I want to know if my company is actually ready to put on the market today or if we are just fooling ourselves because we have good revenues. What are the objective, non-financial operational indicators that prove a company is truly exit-ready?

Exit readiness is not a feeling, nor is it merely a reflection of your top-line revenue. True readiness means the business can run without friction if you disappear for three months. To verify this objectively, look at your Accountability Chart and your weekly scorecard.

First, every seat on your Accountability Chart must be occupied by someone who completely Gets, Wants, and has the Capacity (GWC) to do the job. If you are still stepping in to resolve day-to-day issues or acting as a safety net for any seat, you are not ready.

Second, your processes must be fully documented and followed by all. A buyer will inspect whether your staff actually adheres to your core operating model. If your documented processes are just sitting in a folder and not driving daily behavior, you have a major vulnerability.

Third, your leadership team must run their own weekly Level 10 Meeting and solve their own issues using the IDS process without your involvement.

By treating exit preparation as a way to improve the quality of your business today, you make it much easier to run right now. If your metrics are predictable, your team is independent, and your operations are fully systematized, those are the real operational signals that a buyer will pay a premium for.
