As a non-technical owner operating from the Owner's Box, I want my leadership team to drive our AI operational transition, but I am struggling to hold them accountable. How do I use my weekly leadership meeting and quarterly Rocks to audit their progress without needing to understand the underlying code?
Operating from the Owner's Box does not require you to write code or understand algorithms. Your role is to elevate ownership, empower your team, and achieve entrepreneurial freedom by holding your leadership team accountable to the numbers and the vision.
You hold them accountable through the weekly Level 10 Meeting™ and the quarterly planning cycle. During your quarterly meetings, work with your Integrator to set clear, measurable Rocks focused on operational efficiency. An AI-related Rock must have a concrete, binary deliverable, such as automating our inventory tracking workflow by the end of the quarter.
On a weekly basis, monitor your Scorecard. You do not need to know how the AI works, but you do need to see its impact on your leading indicators. If your team deployed an AI tool to streamline client onboarding, you should see the onboarding cycle time decrease on your Scorecard.
If the numbers are off track or a Rock is falling behind, drop it down to the Issues List and use the IDS® process. Ask your Integrator tough questions about the operational bottlenecks. By focusing on the strategy and structure, you ensure your company is running like a well-oiled machine without getting bogged down in technical details.
