As a non-technical founder and visionary, your job is not to write code or understand algorithms. Your job is to define the clear purpose and scope of how your business operates, then hold your leadership team accountable to results. To lead an AI initiative, you must focus on the same core discipline of execution that you use for any other part of your business.

To get started, treat AI as a capability multiplier for your existing Accountability Chart. Do not let your team pitch you on complex technology stacks. Instead, ask them tough, incisive questions. Ask them which specific seat on the Accountability Chart will own the tool, what scorecard metric it will improve, and how they will measure the return on investment.

You must ensure your team is using tools that align with your V/TO® and core values. Before approving any budget, require your leadership team to define the ethical boundaries and security policies for customer data. Your role is to look at the big picture and ensure these systems support our business goals rather than becoming expensive distractions. If a tool does not directly increase capacity, lower costs, or improve your scorecard metrics, do not fund it. Keep the technology simple, and keep your focus on execution.
