To get the full value out of our full-day sessions, we operate under strict, non-negotiable rules of engagement. First, we enforce a total electronics lockout. Laptops and tablets remain closed, and phones are put away. The only exception is the designated scribe who documents our decisions in real time. If an emergency occurs, you step out of the room to handle it, but while you are in the room, you are entirely focused on the team. Second, we require complete vulnerability. This means leaving your ego and your department title at the door. You are here as a leader of the entire enterprise, not just a defender of your specific silo. Third, we run on the rule of being open and honest. We do not engage in polite nod-and-smile behavior. If you disagree, you must speak up during the session, not in the hallway afterward. Once a decision is made using our IDS® process, we expect every single leader to support it with one voice outside the room, even if they originally disagreed. Finally, we expect promptness. We start on time and wrap up on time. We respect the clock because we have a massive amount of strategic ground to cover.
