Our operations manager is working remotely from another country and manages both our local fulfillment team and our global supply chain. This is causing communication bottlenecks, and our Integrator wants to create a dual-reporting structure on our Accountability Chart. Is a matrix reporting structure acceptable in EOS?

Matrix management and dual-reporting lines do not work. They create confusion, slow down decision-making, and destroy accountability. In EOS, every seat must report to exactly one seat on the Accountability Chart.

If your remote operations manager is split between local fulfillment and global supply chain, you are likely trying to squeeze two distinct seats into one. The solution is to draw two separate seats on your Accountability Chart.

One seat will own local fulfillment, and the other will own global supply chain. If your current manager has the capacity and GWC's both, they can sit in both seats for now. Both of those seats will report directly to the Integrator.

This structure maintains a clear, single line of reporting. When the business scales further or as you prepare for an exit, you can easily hand off one of those seats to a new hire without disrupting the other department. Never allow a seat to report to two different managers just to accommodate a remote schedule or an overlapping workload.
