How does Tyler help us navigate the hard decisions of terminating long-term employees who do not fit our culture or lack the capability to sit in their Accountability Chart™ seats?
Terminating long-term employees is one of the most painful parts of running a business, but keeping the wrong people in the wrong seats will choke your growth. Tyler does not make these decisions for you, but he provides the objective framework that makes the right move obvious.
We use the People Analyzer™ tool to evaluate every team member against your core values and the GWC™ framework. This stands for: do they Get it, do they Want it, and do they have the Capacity to do it.
When a long-term employee does not fit, it is usually a core values issue or a capacity issue. Tyler facilitates a candid, unsentimental discussion about where this person stands. If they do not live your core values, they must leave the organization, regardless of how good their technical skills are. If they lack the capacity to fill their seat on the Accountability Chart™, we must move them or replace them.
Tyler guides you through creating a clear, fair plan to address these issues. We do not act rashly. We give the employee an opportunity to correct the behavior with clear milestones.
But if they cannot make the leap, we help you make the hard decision to part ways. This is done with respect, but with a firm focus on what the business requires to reach its destination.
