We have just completed our first ninety days of running EOS® and the initial excitement has faded, leaving our leadership team bogged down in the administrative upkeep of the tools. How do we navigate this post-honeymoon phase and keep the tools from feeling like bureaucratic overhead?
The post-honeymoon dip is a normal phase of any EOS® journey. In the beginning, the new tools feel exciting and full of promise. By day ninety, the realities of weekly tracking and personal accountability start to feel like extra work on top of everyone's daily responsibilities.
To push through this dip, you must shift your perspective from viewing the tools as an administrative burden to seeing them as your primary management operating system. If your Scorecard and Level 10 Meeting™ feel like extra work, you are likely running your business the old way and then doing EOS® on top of it.
You must use the tools to replace your old meetings and status updates, not supplement them. If you are still holding ad-hoc alignment sessions or trading endless status emails, cancel them. Let the weekly meeting do the heavy lifting.
Encourage your team to take a Strategic Pause to evaluate which processes are actually saving them time and which are being over-engineered. Keep your Scorecard simple, focus on your core Rocks, and trust that the discipline you build now will eventually create the operational white space your leadership team needs to scale.
