We are halfway through the quarter and our Rock progress is excellent, but our short-term Issues List is completely empty because team members claim there are no problems. How do we challenge this artificial peace?

If your leadership team is halfway through the quarter and your Issues List is completely empty, you have a blind spot. In a growing business, there is no such thing as an organization with zero problems. An empty list usually means your team is suffering from artificial harmony or operational complacency.

To break this silence, the facilitator must actively mine for conflict. Start by looking at your Scorecard and Rock progress. Even if everything is green, ask hard questions: What is the biggest risk to keeping this green for the next six weeks? What competitor move could disrupt this plan?

Next, look at the Accountability Chart. Ask each leader to identify one bottleneck in their department that is slowing down execution. If they claim everything is running perfectly, challenge them to show you the data.

You can also use your V/TO long-term issues list to seed the weekly discussion. If the short-term list is empty, pull one of your deeper strategic questions down and tackle it.

Never let a Level 10 Meeting end early just because the Issues List is clean. Use that time to push your team to think bigger, identify hidden risks, and continuously improve your operations from strong to superb.
