Second, track the number of scheduled stops per technician per day. A highly efficient routing tool should increase your daily operational throughput without requiring you to hire more field staff. If this number remains flat after implementation, the tool is not delivering.
Third, monitor your customer service response time and scheduling error rate. An automated system should reduce booking errors and delays. If your team is spending hours manually correcting automated dispatch errors, the software is creating more work than it saves.
By holding the software accountable to these Scorecard metrics, you can easily calculate the return on your investment. If the tool does not drive a measurable improvement in these operational numbers within ninety days, it is a shiny distraction that should be cut.
