Your weekly Scorecard is designed to monitor the pulse of your business-as-usual operations. It is not a project management board, and trying to track individual Rock milestones on it will quickly clutter your view and create data fatigue.

To keep your Scorecard clean, keep Rocks off of it entirely. Instead, manage Rock progress during the dedicated Rock review portion of your weekly Level 10 Meeting™. During this step, each leader reports whether their Rock is on-track or off-track.

If a Rock is off-track, it is not discussed or debated during the review. It is simply dropped down to the Issues list, where the team will use the IDS® process to identify the root cause and create a plan to get it back on track.

The only time a Rock-related metric belongs on your weekly Scorecard is if the Rock itself is designed to establish a new operational standard. For example, if your Rock is to implement a new customer feedback system, you might track the customer response rate on your Scorecard once the system is live.

By separating operational metrics from project updates, you maintain a highly focused Scorecard that tells you exactly how the business is running while ensuring your quarterly priorities receive the dedicated focus they need.
