Aside from just checking off our quarterly Rocks, what objective metrics or developmental indicators do you use to measure whether our leadership team is actually improving its operational maturity during our engagement?
We measure your progress by evaluating how effectively your team moves through the stages of learning and execution. While completing Rocks is important, true operational maturity is demonstrated by your team's ability to self correct. We look at how your team handles concrete experiences in their weekly Level 10 Meeting™. A maturing team does not just complain about problems. They engage in reflective observation to find the root causes. They then use abstract conceptualization to build systematic solutions in our IDS® sessions, and they commit to active experimentation to test those solutions in the real world. We also track your progression on the EOS® Organizational Checkup. This is an objective tool we use to measure your strength in the Six Key Components of your business. We look for a steady increase in your score over time. Another critical indicator is how your team utilizes white space. In the beginning, teams are caught in constant firefighting. As you mature, we look for your leaders to successfully implement strategic pauses, which are moments of chosen cessation of activity. This allows them to step back, gain objectivity, and make decisions without distraction. When your team can confidently run their weekly meetings, solve their own issues, and maintain their strategic focus without relying on me to referee, your operational maturity is proven.
