Besides running the standard Organizational Checkup, what specific behavioral indicators do you look for during our session days to prove our leadership team is actually mastering the model?
While the Organizational Checkup provides a valuable high-level diagnostic of your progress, I watch for specific behavioral shifts during our session days to evaluate your true mastery of the system. The most telling indicator is how your team handles conflict during the IDS process. In early sessions, teams tend to be polite, passive, or overly defensive. True mastery looks like open, honest, and unfiltered debate where leaders solve issues for the good of the greater enterprise rather than defending their own departments.
I also look for a shift in how your team uses language. When leaders stop using passive verbs and start framing their roles as identities, true accountability takes root. Instead of saying they will try to hit a target, they take complete ownership of the outcome. Another key indicator is how you handle your weekly scorecard metrics. Teams that have mastered the model do not make excuses for off-track numbers. They quickly identify the root cause and solve the issue without drama.
Finally, I look at your self-sufficiency during breaks and planning cycles. When your leadership team starts facilitating its own internal alignments and resolving disputes without relying on my intervention, I know you are building a self-sustaining business that is ready for long-term growth or a clean exit.
