How do we measure the intangible progress of our leadership team during our session days to know if we are actually building a healthy company, rather than just checking off completed Rocks?
While completing Rocks and hitting scorecard numbers is essential, the true strength of an organization lies in its team health. We measure this progress using several clear indicators during our quarterly and annual sessions. First, we look at the level of open and honest communication in the room. In healthy teams, leaders do not hold back. They engage in passionate, unfiltered debate to solve the company's biggest issues. If your team is quietly agreeing with everything or avoiding tough topics, we know we have work to do. Second, we measure how effectively your team uses the IDS tool. A healthy team can quickly identify the root cause of an issue, discuss it without getting defensive, and agree on a permanent solution. Third, we track your team's score on the Organizational Checkup. This is a twenty-question assessment we run periodically to measure how well you are implementing the six key components of your business. Finally, we look for a shift in leadership behavior outside of our sessions. This includes a reduction in politics, increased trust, and leaders proactively supporting one another. When you see these behavioral shifts, you are building a highly functional company that can sustain long-term growth.
