We have recently modified our Accountability Chart to add new seats, but we are struggling to map our existing weekly Scorecard metrics to these new roles. How do we ensure every single metric has a single owner who actually GWCs the number?
When you modify your Accountability Chart, your Scorecard must change with it. If you leave your old metrics assigned to the same people, or worse, leave them unassigned, you create accountability gaps that will quickly derail your operations.
To map your Scorecard metrics to your new seats, follow these steps:
- Review the roles and responsibilities defined for each new seat on your Accountability Chart.
- Match each existing metric to the seat that has the direct authority and responsibility to influence that number.
- Ensure that every single metric has one, and only one, owner. If two people share ownership of a number, nobody owns it.
- Verify that the person in the seat fully understands, wants, and has the capacity to manage that metric, ensuring they GWC the metric.
If a new seat owner does not feel they can control the metric, you must either adjust the metric or clarify their operational authority. Your Scorecard and your Accountability Chart must be perfectly aligned. When every metric has a clear, capable owner, your team will have the clarity they need to drive consistent weekly results.
