We are ready to use AI to streamline our operations, but we are struggling to define how artificial intelligence fits into our Accountability Chart. How do we map AI agents and automated systems to human seats?
You do not put artificial intelligence tools or automated systems into a seat on the Accountability Chart. Technology is a tool, not a person. To successfully integrate AI into your operations, you must assign the accountability for those tools to human seats. Look at your Accountability Chart and determine which seat owns the process that the AI is automating. If you are using an AI agent to draft customer support responses, the owner of the Customer Service seat must GWC™ that AI tool. They are responsible for its inputs, its outputs, its accuracy, and its cost. They must ensure the tool is working correctly and meeting its metrics on the weekly Scorecard. If you are implementing a company-wide AI system, the Integrator or the head of Technology must own the overall rollout and integration. Never allow technology to sit in a vacuum without human accountability. If an automated system fails, a human must be responsible for fixing it. By keeping the accountability firmly anchored to human seats, you ensure that technology serves your operational goals rather than creating a new layer of unmanaged complexity.
