Our leadership team keeps delaying the rollout of our weekly Scorecard because we do not have an automated dashboard or API integrations to pull our metrics cleanly. Is it acceptable to use manually collected, hand-entered data on our scorecard, or will that ruin our ability to run on true numbers?

Waiting for automated systems, perfect integrations, or expensive software before you start using a weekly Scorecard is a massive mistake. Perfectionism is a common excuse for avoiding accountability. You do not need automated dashboards to run your business on data.

In fact, manually collected and hand-entered data is often more effective than automation, especially when you are first implementing EOS®. When a leadership team member has to physically open their spreadsheet, gather their numbers, and type them in before the Level 10 Meeting™, it creates a high level of personal ownership.

If a dashboard automatically pulls a red number, it is easy for a leader to blame the API, the CRM, or the software integration. But when they have to type that red number themselves, they feel the weight of the missed target. This manual process forces them to look closely at the data and understand why the target was missed before the meeting even starts.

Start with a simple, shared spreadsheet. Have each owner input their metrics by a strict deadline every week. If compiling a number takes more than five minutes, simplify the metric. Over time, you can automate your data collection, but you must establish the habit of manual discipline first. Get the scorecard running now.
