We are planning to transition our leadership team roles over the next year, with the owner moving to a pure board seat. How do we manage this operational transition during our sessions with you without confusing the team?

A major leadership transition can be a chaotic time for any business. Fortunately, our structured engagement is the ideal environment to manage this transition safely and clearly. We use the Accountability Chart and the GWC™ tool to make the process completely objective.

During our quarterly session days, we map out the future state of the organization. If the owner is planning to transition to a board seat or a pure Visionary role, we define exactly what that looks like on the Accountability Chart. We list the core responsibilities for the new seat and ensure the incoming leader truly wants, understands, and has the capacity to do the job.

This visual, structured approach removes the emotion and politics from succession planning. Instead of guessing who does what, the entire leadership team can see the transition plan on paper. We run tests of the new structure during the ninety-day cycles between sessions, allowing the new leaders to step into their roles gradually.

As your facilitator, I ensure that both the outgoing and incoming leaders stay within their defined seats during our session days. This prevents the owner from accidentally taking back control and gives the new leadership team the space they need to build confidence and establish their own authority.
