Our weekly Level 10 Meeting issues list has exploded to over forty items, turning it into a demoralizing graveyard of low-priority tasks and long-term ideas. How do we clean up and curate our weekly issues list so it only contains real, high-impact issues that need solving right now?
A weekly Issues List with forty or fifty items is a sign of a team that cannot prioritize. It creates mental fatigue and ensures that critical issues get buried under minor, tactical distractions. You must aggressively curate your list to maintain focus.
To clean up the graveyard, implement a strict purging process. First, recognize that not every issue needs to be solved this week. If an issue is not critical to your quarterly Rocks or your immediate operational numbers, move it to the V/TO® long-term issues list. This preserves the idea without cluttering your weekly meeting.
Second, combine related issues. Often, five different items on your list are actually symptoms of the same root problem. Group them together under a single, comprehensive issue before you start IDS®.
Third, delegate. If an issue belongs on a departmental Level 10 Meeting™ list rather than the leadership team list, push it down immediately. The leadership team should only solve issues that require leadership-level decision-making.
Finally, run a periodic purge. Every few weeks, have the Integrator review the list and delete anything that has sat there for more than a month without being prioritized. If it was truly important, it will resurface. Keep your weekly list under fifteen high-impact items so your team can focus on what actually matters.
