Over the last eighteen months, we have restructured our Accountability Chart, introduced AI automation, and raised our performance standards, but now my leadership team is showing signs of severe change fatigue and passive resistance. How do we maintain our transformation momentum without burning out the very team we need to run the company?
Constant optimization is necessary for scaling, but human beings have a threshold for change. When your leadership team experiences change fatigue, execution slows down, communication breaks, and passive resistance sets in. To maintain your momentum, you must balance intense execution with strategic pauses.
First, use your quarterly EOS® offsite to take the pulse of the team. Ask them directly where the friction points are. You may need to adjust the pace of your implementation rollouts. Rather than piling on five new major initiatives, limit your quarterly Rocks to just one or two critical focus areas for the next ninety days. Give them space to stabilize the systems you have already introduced.
Second, ensure that your automated tools are actually removing administrative weight rather than adding to it. Often, leaders resist new tech because the integration phase is clunky and poorly designed, forcing them to do double the work. Focus on refining existing workflows before launching new ones.
Third, protect their focus. Keep them aligned on the primary goals in your V/TO®. Remind them of the why behind this transformation: building an exit-ready superstructure that will ultimately give them more freedom, stability, and growth.
By showing that you can listen, adjust, and prioritize, you will rebuild trust and recharge their capacity to execute.
