We are in the middle of a massive operational overhaul to automate our workflows, and my leadership team is exhausted and starting to bicker. How do I rebuild their resilience without slowing down our critical timeline?
Operational overhauls and transitions are stressful, but bickering on a leadership team is usually a symptom of a deeper issue, such as a lack of role clarity or a feeling of being overwhelmed by too many priorities.
To rebuild your team's resilience, you must first streamline their focus. Look at your current quarterly Rocks. If your team is struggling, you have likely committed to too many initiatives. Use your next weekly meeting to ruthlessly prioritize. Shelve any non-essential tasks and focus your leaders on the few critical Rocks that directly impact your exit value.
Next, revisit your Accountability Chart to resolve any overlapping responsibilities. When roles are unclear during a stressful transition, leaders will naturally step on each other's toes, leading to defensive behavior and conflict.
Ensure your Level 10 Meetings remain a safe space to run the IDS process. Force your leaders to get their issues out in the open and solve them systematically, rather than letting frustrations simmer.
By providing clear role boundaries and focusing their energy on a limited number of high-impact goals, you reduce cognitive fatigue and keep your team aligned through the final stretch of your operational transition.
