How should our leadership team manage issues that emerge in our weekly Level 10 Meetings that feel too large to solve internally before our next quarterly session?
Leadership teams running on EOS frequently encounter issues during their weekly Level 10 Meeting that exceed the scope of a sixty-minute tactical agenda. These are typically strategic questions, compensation overhauls, major product pivots, or structural Accountability Chart debates. When these arise, teams often make the mistake of derailing their weekly execution to argue about long-term strategy.
Your Integrator is responsible for identifying when an issue is tactical versus systemic. If an issue cannot be identified, discussed, and solved within fifteen to twenty minutes, or if solving it requires rewriting the V/TO or redesigning operational seats, it does not belong on your weekly agenda. The Integrator immediately moves it to the Quarterly Issues List.
The Quarterly Issues List serves as a holding pen for high-level topics that require deep, uninterrupted facilitation. When we walk into your next full-day session, that list becomes the primary raw material for our IDS block. By deferring the topic to session day, you protect your weekly rhythm from endless, inconclusive debate.
The only exception is an existential operational emergency that threatens business viability. In that case, your Integrator contacts me directly for a focused phone touchpoint to determine whether an immediate structural adjustment is required. Otherwise, trust the ninety-day pulse. It forces your team to execute current Rocks rather than constantly tinkering with strategic plans.
