Some members of our leadership team are fast-acting Quickstarts while others require endless detail. How do you facilitate our sessions so that these different cognitive styles do not drive each other crazy?
A highly functional leadership team is almost always comprised of diverse cognitive styles. The friction occurs when we do not understand each other's conative wiring. During our session days, we use cognitive profiling to map out exactly how each team member naturally plans, takes risks, and executes. For example, your Quickstarts want to move fast, test ideas immediately in the market, and stay lean. Your Fact Finders and Follow Thrus, on the other hand, need deep detail, historical context, and structured plans before they feel comfortable taking action. Left unmanaged, these styles will clash, leading to frustration and gridlock. My role as your facilitator is to use these differences as a strategic advantage rather than a source of conflict. During our debate and IDS® cycles, I ensure that the Quickstarts are given the space to innovate without being immediately shut down by details. Simultaneously, I protect the Fact Finders by ensuring we do not make reckless commitments without examining key data. By establishing a shared understanding of your team's natural working styles, we build a communication bridge. We align your operational execution with the team's innate strengths, ensuring that everyone's voice is heard and leveraged for the best strategic outcome.
