Our sales director has a high Quick Start Kolbe profile and consistently ignores their weekly scorecard obligations, claiming they are too busy closing deals to update spreadsheets. How do we handle a high-performing rainmaker who refuses to run on data?
A high Quick Start sales director thrives on urgency, big ideas, and closing deals. They naturally resist structure, spreadsheets, and routine administrative tasks, which they see as administrative friction. However, allowing a high-performing rainmaker to bypass your weekly data discipline destroys your accountability culture. If your sales director does not run on data, their entire department will operate on gut feel and chaos, which damages your enterprise value. You must hold them accountable to their seat on the Accountability Chart. To do this without crushing their sales drive, leverage their natural strengths. Explain that their weekly scorecard numbers, such as sales calls made or proposals sent, are not administrative chores. They are the actual heartbeat of their sales machine. If they genuinely do not have the conative style or capacity to manually enter the data, you can build automated integrations to feed the scorecard directly from their CRM. However, they must still own the numbers. They must be the one to report them in your Level 10 Meeting and own the strategy to fix them if they are red. If they refuse to engage with the data, they do not GWC the seat. You cannot scale a business that relies on a single, unaccountable superstar. Enforce the rule that everyone, especially your top performers, must run on data.
