We just brought in our first professional Integrator, and while the leadership team was excited at first, they are now complaining that the new executive structure is too rigid and is killing our entrepreneurial speed. How do we manage this friction and help them embrace structural discipline?

This friction is incredibly common when transitioning from a loose, founder led culture to a professionalized operating model. Your team is confusing chaotic speed with productive traction. In the early days, shooting from the hip felt like freedom, but as you scale, that lack of discipline becomes a drag on growth.

To resolve this, you must hold the line. As the Visionary founder, you cannot side with the team when they complain about the new structure. You must actively support your Integrator. If you bypass the Integrator or let the team ignore the new processes, you will destroy the Integrator's authority and fracture the leadership team.

Use your next quarterly offsite to revisit the V/TO and the Accountability Chart. Show the team that the new structure is not there to control them, but to free them up. By clearly defining roles, metrics, and meeting cadences, you eliminate the constant operational confusion that actually slows things down.

Have the Integrator work closely with each leader to show how the weekly Level 10 Meeting and quarterly Rocks help them get more done with less effort. Once the team experiences the predictability and calm of a well run operating system, they will realize that true discipline is what actually creates scaling freedom.
