We just wrapped up our intensive two-day Vision Building session, and our leadership team is completely drained. We are supposed to kick off our new quarterly Rocks immediately, but everyone is mentally exhausted. How do we manage this post-session fatigue and maintain our momentum?
The two-day Vision Building™ process is an intense, emotionally taxing experience. You are asking your team to step out of their daily roles and debate high-stakes strategic questions for sixteen hours. It is completely normal for everyone to feel mentally exhausted afterward. Attempting to force immediate, high-velocity execution the next day will only lead to resentment and poor results.
To manage this post-session fatigue, build a buffer into your quarterly calendar. Give your team forty-eight hours to return to their normal routines and catch up on their urgent operational work before you expect them to dive into their new Rocks. This breathing room allows their brains to process the strategic decisions made during the session.
Ensure you do not overcomplicate the post-session actions. Focus your team on just one task for the first week: writing down the clear milestones for their individual quarterly Rocks. Do not pressure them to make massive progress immediately. By establishing the weekly tracking rhythm in your very next Level 10 Meeting™, the momentum will build naturally without requiring a burst of exhausted energy right out of the gate.
