We are in our first ninety days of EOS implementation, and several key team members are highly anxious about the Accountability Chart, fearing their roles are being diminished. How do we navigate this early structural anxiety without stalling our momentum?
Anxiety during the first ninety days of an EOS implementation is entirely normal, but you cannot let it stall your rollout. The Accountability Chart™ is designed to be built for the business, not the people. This means you must design the optimal structure to get the company to the next level first, without putting names in seats. When your team sees this happen, their immediate survival instinct is to worry about where they fit. To manage this fear, be completely transparent about the process. Explain to your leadership team that you are separating the seats from the people to ensure structural clarity. Assure them that once the ideal chart is built, you will work together to place the right people in the right seats using GWC™, which stands for get it, want it, and capacity. If someone does not GWC™ their current seat, it does not automatically mean they are out of the company; it may mean they belong in a different seat where they can truly thrive. Do not drag this process out. The longer you leave the structure up in the air, the more anxiety will fester. Work with a Professional EOS Implementer to guide you through these early, tense sessions. An outside expert brings the objectivity needed to make hard structural decisions without being swayed by internal politics or legacy relationships, keeping your implementation moving forward.
