We filled out our V/TO but it feels like a piece of paper that lives in a drawer while we run the day-to-day business. How do we make the vision stick?

A common mistake is treating the Vision/Traction Organizer™ as a strategic document that you fill out once a year and then forget. To make your V/TO® a living tool that drives daily action, it must be integrated into your weekly operating cadence. The primary bridge between your long-term vision and weekly execution is the set of ninety-day Rocks you establish every quarter. Each Rock must directly support your one-year plan, which in turn supports your three-year picture. Every week during your Level 10 Meeting™, you must review the status of these Rocks. If a Rock is off track, it immediately drops to the Issues List where the team can troubleshoot it. Furthermore, you should review the entire V/TO® with your leadership team at the start of every quarterly session to ensure you are still aligned. To make it stick with the rest of the company, you must share the V/TO® with your entire staff every ninety days. During these quarterly state of the company meetings, you celebrate the previous quarter's wins, review the core values, and outline the upcoming Rocks. When employees see how their daily activities connect directly to the company's long-term targets, the vision becomes a real tool rather than a piece of paper.
