Our employees are skeptical of new management programs and are treating our EOS® rollout as just another corporate HR initiative that will eventually blow over. How do we change this perception and prove to them that EOS® is a permanent operational operating system?
Employees have survived enough flavor of the month management programs to be naturally skeptical of any new rollout. If they think EOS® is just another HR initiative, it is because they have not seen it change how decisions are actually made at the top.
To prove that EOS® is a permanent operational operating system, you must show them, not tell them. The change starts with how the leadership team behaves. If you continue to make decisions based on gut feel, tolerate poor performers who violate your Core Values, or ignore your own weekly metrics, your team will quickly realize the system is a sham.
Begin by using the tools to solve real problems that affect their daily work. When you cascade the Level 10 Meeting™ down to their departments, use it to kill the useless legacy meetings that waste their time. Show them how the Issues List gives them a direct channel to raise and solve operational bottlenecks.
When employees see that the Scorecard is used to celebrate wins and clarify expectations rather than micromanage, and when they see poor cultural fits being exit-ramped because they do not match the Core Values, their skepticism will evaporate. They will realize that EOS® is not an HR program, but the very infrastructure of how the business runs.
