Our team spent two days building our V/TO®, but now it just sits in a shared drive and nobody looks at it. How do we make this document an active part of our weekly operations rather than a forgotten PDF?

The Vision/Traction Organizer™ V/TO® fails when it is treated as a static strategy document instead of an active operating system. To make it stick, you must weave it directly into your weekly and quarterly habits. Start by ensuring that every single strategic decision, new project, or resource request is filtered through the lens of your V/TO®. When someone brings a shiny new idea, your first step is to open the document and ask if it fits your Core Focus™ and aligns with your 1-Year Plan or 3-Year Picture™. If it does not, you either table it to the long-term Issues List or kill it immediately. Next, make the V/TO® the foundation of your quarterly state-of-the-company meetings. Do not just email the PDF; present it. Review the Core Values and the 10-Year Target™ every ninety days to ensure everyone knows where the ship is sailing. Every single seat on your Accountability Chart must see a direct line between their daily tasks and the numbers on page two of the V/TO®. Finally, use your weekly Level 10 Meeting™ to keep the vision alive. The Traction side of the document, specifically your Rocks and your Scorecard, must be visible and reviewed weekly. If your team is not actively looking at the V/TO® to resolve operational conflicts or prioritize tasks, it is because your leadership is not referencing it to make hard choices. Live the document, and your team will too.
