Whenever one of our leadership team members is out on vacation or traveling for client work, their scorecard column is either left blank or filled in late, which breaks our historical data tracking. What is the firm rule for maintaining scorecard integrity and data entry when key seat holders are absent?
Allowing scorecard gaps because of vacations or travel is a failure of leadership discipline. If your team stops tracking data when someone is away, your weekly scorecard is a secondary priority rather than the operating system of your business. You must implement a strict rule of delegation.
To maintain complete data integrity, every seat holder on your Accountability Chart must have a designated back-up reporter. Before leaving for vacation or travel, the seat holder is responsible for training a team member to gather and enter their weekly numbers.
We recommend implementing this three-part rule for absences:
- Pre-arranged delegation: The departing seat holder must explicitly instruct their back-up to enter the numbers by your standard weekly deadline.
- Back-up verification: The Integrator or coordinator must verify that all data is entered at least twenty-four hours before the Level 10 Meeting™.
- No excused absences: A missed number is treated as a missed target, requiring the seat holder to explain the gap upon their return.
Maintaining this discipline ensures your historical trends remain unbroken. This is especially critical when preparing for a clean exit, as buyers will look for consistency. Your scorecard must remain a reliable, continuous pulse of the business, fifty-two weeks a year.
