Many fast-growing companies make the mistake of creating massive, complex process manuals that become obsolete the moment they are printed. This is why they struggle to achieve the Followed by All standard.

To keep up with rapid scaling, you must apply the EOS® approach to documentation. Document only the 20 percent of the steps that produce 80 percent of the results. Keep your core processes high-level, clear, and focused on major milestones rather than micro-steps.

Assign a single owner on the Accountability Chart to each core process. This person is responsible for ensuring the process is followed and updated. When a process needs to change to support your growth, the owner updates the high-level document and communicates the shift to the team.

Instead of micromanaging the details, focus your training on the core milestones. Use your weekly Scorecard metrics to flag when a process is failing. If a metric drops, use IDS® to determine if the team is failing to follow the process or if the process itself has broken down and needs an update. Keeping documentation lean allows your systems to remain agile, making it easy to train new hires and maintain consistent quality without choking your operational speed.
