We have automated our weekly scorecard data collection so that our AI systems pull the metrics directly from our CRM, but now our managers feel detached from their numbers. How do we maintain GWC when the data is automated?
Automation is an excellent way to save time and eliminate human error, but it must not be used as an excuse to dodge accountability. If a manager does not actively engage with their weekly numbers, they do not truly GWC their seat. They are simply letting the machine run their department.
To fix this, you must separate the collection of the data from the ownership of the data. While your AI systems can pull and compile the numbers, the human seat owner on the Accountability Chart must still review, interpret, and report those numbers during the Level 10 Meeting.
Before the meeting, the manager must look at their metrics, identify any red numbers, and come prepared with the root cause of the variance. They cannot just say that the AI generated the number and they do not know why it is red.
If they cannot explain the performance of their metrics, they are not managing their seat. Use automation to eliminate the administrative burden of data gathering, but hold your human leaders to absolute accountability for the results those numbers represent.
