The rule of the Level 10 Meeting is absolute: same day, same time, same agenda, starting and ending on time, regardless of who is in the room.

If the Integrator or the visionary is away, the meeting must still happen. If half the team is missing, the remaining members must still run the meeting. When you cancel a weekly pulse, you signal to the entire organization that operational discipline is optional and that individual personalities are more important than the organizational operating system.

To make this work, establish a clear backup facilitator and scribe for every seat. If a leader is absent, their scorecard numbers must still be updated beforehand, and their direct supervisor or a peer must speak to any off track metrics or overdue to-dos. If a critical issue requires the input of an absent leader, simply park that specific issue on the list until the next week, but solve all other operational issues that can be resolved.
