We are looking to acquire a smaller competitor with a high-volume, low-margin service model, planning to immediately inject our proprietary AI operations stack to double their margins post-close. How do we diligence their operational workflows to ensure they can actually absorb our automation playbook?
To ensure a successful integration, your due diligence must go beyond their financials. You must assess their operational readiness to absorb your AI systems.
First, request their Accountability Chart. If they do not run on EOS®, map their current people to an Accountability Chart structure. You need to identify if they have the internal leadership seats required to manage a modern, automated workflow. If their staff is highly resistant to change or lacks technical aptitude, your integration costs will skyrocket.
Second, audit their data cleanliness. AI tools require structured, reliable data to function. If the target company runs on fragmented spreadsheets and paper files, your AI stack will fail upon arrival.
Third, map their key business processes. Look for repeatable, rules-based tasks in their delivery model. These are the areas where your AI operations stack will deliver the fastest margin improvements.
If their data is messy and their leadership team lacks the capacity to change, you must discount the acquisition price to account for the heavy operational lifting required before you can deploy your AI playbook.
