How do we determine the total lifespan of our engagement with you, and what factors dictate whether we finish early or stay past two years?

The standard engagement runs for twenty-four months, consisting of eight quarterly sessions and two annual planning cycles. That timeframe is intentional. Year one is about installing the core tools, eliminating structural confusion, and stabilizing your leadership team. Year two is about mastery, rolling the tools down into departmental tiers, and testing your ability to make tough personnel and strategic calls independently.

However, the engagement ends when your leadership team reaches self-sufficiency, not when an arbitrary date arrives. If your Integrator demonstrates the facilitation discipline to drive strict IDS, hold peers accountable, and guide annual planning by quarter six, you graduate early. We do not keep meeting just to check a box.

Conversely, companies stay past twenty-four months if they encounter major executive turnover, absorb corporate acquisitions, or navigate an ownership transition that requires extended exit readiness under the Step by Step Exit framework. In those scenarios, having an outside facilitator keeps strategic execution from being derailed by deal complexity.

My goal from our first session is to fire myself. If your team still requires an outside Implementer to resolve standard executive friction after two years, we have failed to build a genuine operating system.
